In the late 1930's Kent and Mary Ramsey moved to this location from Chicago. Soon they started a "key club" which provided a place for local businessmen to play cards and have a meal. For years Mary would take the customer's order, drive to town to pick up the food, drive back, cook it, and finally serve it. The name of the restaurant was
Forest River Lodge. The small campground, boat launch, and grocery store were what comprised Ramsey's Landing. At no time has the restaurant been officially named Ramsey's Landing. When Kent became ill in 1959, Mary was able to obtain a permit to sell alcohol. Prior to that time, the excise officers would come in, raid the Bar,take the liquor, give them a fine and go on their way. Once again, they would hop into their car, run to town to the liquor store, re-stock, come back home and be in business again. Upon acquiring the license, Mary sold the restaurant to Harold Lang. After several owners it was purchased in 1967 by Lorraine and Shorty Majors, who owned it till 1977 when they decided to retire.

Bob and Marti Klauer purchased the small restaurant in June of 1977. It was renamed Bomar's River Lodge, Inc. and had 6 employees and 80 seats. About 1 1/2 years later we divorced and my son Ron, and I stayed here. In 1984 I bought the rest of the original campground and renamed the restaurant Marti's Place at Ramsey's Landing. This pleased Mary as it meant her name would be on something besides Ramsey Road after she was gone. By the way, we now have 220 seats and around 52 employees.

Ron graduated from Purdue University in restaurant management and now is my General Manager. He is married to Alesia and they have my beautiful grandchildren, Madi and Reno. Sometimes, it seems as if we will never be done with our plans and dreams, but maybe we aren't meant to be
